HK reports 8 COVID-19 cases
The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating eight additional COVID-19 cases, of which six are locally transmitted and two are imported.
Among the local cases, three have unknown sources of infection.
One of the unlinked cases involves a 26-year-old male project assistant who developed a fever on February 21 and last went to work on March 2.
The second case involves a 58-year-old male company management personnel worker. He developed a fever on March 3 and last went to work on March 5.
The remaining case involves a 27-year-old male fitness trainer at Ursus Fitness who was asymptomatic and last went to work on March 9.
The centre also reported that there are nine additional preliminary positive cases involving staff and customers at Ursus Fitness located at Units 2-4, G/F, 64-68 Pok Fu Lam Road in Sai Ying Pun.
It is investigating whether the infections are related and appeals to those who had visited the fitness centre from March 1 to 10 to call 2125 1111 or 2125 1122 as soon as possible.
According to the compulsory testing notice, those who had been at the fitness centre from February 25 to March 10, including staff and visitors, must undergo testing by March 12.
The notice also covers two buildings in Tseung Kwan O and Sai Ying Pun where one or more new confirmed cases were detected.
Meanwhile, the Government said that the sewage samples collected earlier from the area around Tin Fu Court in Tin Shui Wai constantly tested positive for the virus. However, no confirmed cases were recorded at the four residential buildings and four schools in the area.
While face-to-face classes may continue in the schools upon risk assessments, such schools will be included in the compulsory testing notice.
The Government will set up mobile specimen collection stations at the four schools in Tin Shui Wai and Hau Tak Estate in Tseung Kwan O on March 11 to provide virus testing services.
A total of 224 cases have been recorded in the past 14 days, including 171 local cases of which 59 are untraceable.
