Tuen Mun River art project starts
The Art Promotion Office today launched the Viva! River public art project showcasing local artwork along Tuen Mun River to bring art and vibrancy to the community.
By visiting different places and initiating dialogue with community groups in Tuen Mun, six local artist groups were inspired by the district's history and culture as well as the stories of the residents.
They created six sets of artwork including sculptures, urban furniture, knitted art and an interactive installation with music elements for long-term display at four locations along the river.
The artwork not only gives the riverside a new look, but also stimulates the imagining of public spaces.
A 360-degree virtual reality video where the curatorial team guides viewers through the site to introduce the six sets of artwork and design concepts has been uploaded to the Leisure & Cultural Services Department’s Edutainment Channel.
A series of creative community events will also be launched in phases along Tuen Mun River, together with online videos for the public. Visit the "Art-OUR in situ" Facebook page for the video.
In view of the COVID-19 epidemic, visitors are advised to maintain social distancing and comply with the relevant regulation. They should wear masks at all times when present in any public place.
