The Government will sell three residential sites by tender in the January-March quarter that will provide about 2,240 flats.

Announcing the quarterly land sale programme for the fourth quarter of 2020-21 today, Secretary for Development Michael Wong said one of the residential sites is in the Kwu Tung North New Development Area and the other two are at the Peak and in Kai Tak.

He noted that the Kwu Tung North site is the first to be sold by tender in the new development area and can provide 1,330 units.

The Mansfield Road site at the Peak can provide about 135 flats, while the Kai Tak site can yield 775 units.

Including the MTR Corporation’s plan to tender Package 6 of the Wong Chuk Hang Station project to provide 750 units and other private projects capable of producing 1,815 units, the estimated number of flats provided in the quarter would reach about 4,800.

Mr Wong said: “Taking all sources of private housing land supply into account, the total supply in the fourth quarter would be about 4,800 units, the highest among the four quarters.

“Together with a supply of about 8,070 units for the first three quarters, the total private housing land supply of the financial year will reach about 12,870 units, which is very close to our annual target of 12,900.”

For commercial land, the Government will put up for sale in the fourth quarter the Caroline Hill Road site in Causeway Bay, providing about 100,000 sq m of gross floor space.

Mr Wong added that the Government would continue to increase land supply through a multipronged approach to meet the community’s needs for housing, economic and social development.
