The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 96 additional COVID-19 cases, including some that were detected at a salon in Central.

The centre's Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan told a press briefing there are 90 local cases, of which 26 have an unknown source of infection.

Dr Chuang said four COVID-19 cases have been detected among the workers at Glow Spa & Salon on Wellington Street.

“We have quarantined all staff there and asked them to contact their customers and ask them to undergo testing."

She added that one of the salon's customers also tested positive.

“So we are worried that there may be other transmission chains among the customers of that salon. That is why we are asking them to come forward for compulsory testing to make sure that they are not infected.”

The Government will gazette the compulsory testing notice to require those who visited the salon from December 8 to 17 to undergo a COVID-19 test by December 22.

Furthermore, those who were at Block 8 of Kwai Shing West Estate in Kwai Chung for more than two hours from November 17 to December 9 will be required to get tested from December 18 to 22.
