HKeMobility app covers 18 districts

December 3, 2020

The walking route search information on the HKeMobility mobile app has been extended to cover all 18 districts in Hong Kong, the Transport Department announced today.

Launched in July 2018, the mobile app allows the public to acquire real-time traffic and transport information for route planning.

As of the end of November, the app recorded cumulative downloads of more than 2.24 million, with an average daily hit rate of about 40,000.

To encourage people to walk more, the department has been enhancing the walking route search function in the app.

Initially, the search function covered Causeway Bay and Tsim Sha Tsui. It was extended to all urban districts in July.

It also offers a barrier-free route option for people with visual and mobility disabilities.

The department added that with the completion of the Lands Department's 3D Pedestrian Network datasets, which are available to the public on the Hong Kong GeoData Store and Public Sector Information Portal, the app has adopted the datasets to provide the walking route search information to cover the 18 districts.
