The Centre for Health Protection today said it is investigating 103 additional COVID-19 cases, of which 97 are locally transmitted.

The centre’s Communicable Disease Branch Head Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan told a press briefing this afternoon that among the locally transmitted cases, 15 have an unknown source of infection and 82 are linked with previous cases, of which 13 are related to the dance club cluster.

Sixteen infection cases are related to a construction site of LOHAS Park in Tseung Kwan O, including two family members of the site workers.

"COVID-19 cases and outbreaks involving construction site workers do occur from time to time. So I think the relevant bureau will consider whether they need to undergo targeted group testing or not," Dr Chuang said.

She also explained how the environment in a construction site can facilitate virus transmission.

"I am not sure whether there is a superspreading event occurring in construction sites but the environment in a construction site is usually enclosed. It is very difficult for the workers to wear masks all the time. There may be some interactions and heavy manual work. So this situation in their environment may facilitate transmission."

The centre added that there are six imported cases.
