More testing centres for cab drivers

November 15, 2020

The Transport Department today announced that seven additional temporary testing kit distribution and collection centres will be set up on November 16 to provide free COVID-19 testing for taxi drivers.

From November 16 to 18, the total number of temporary testing kit distribution and collection centres will be increased from four to 11.

Arrangements for the additional temporary centres will be the same as existing ones.

Those holding valid taxi driver identity plates can visit a temporary centre to collect a testing kit.

They must register online, self-collect their deep throat saliva specimens and return them to any centre on the same day.

The testing agency will collect the specimens and deliver them to the laboratory for testing.

Drivers will be notified of a negative test result by SMS. Cases with positive test results will be referred to the Centre for Health Protection for follow-up.

Taxi drivers who receive an SMS notifying them of a negative test result can collect an Anti-epidemic Tag for Taxi Drivers from trade organisations and display the tag in their taxis.
