Foreign currency reserves up

Hong Kong's official foreign currency reserve assets rose to US$475 billion in October from September’s US$453.4 billion, the Monetary Authority announced today.

 

The reserve assets represent over six times the currency in circulation or about 45% of Hong Kong dollar M3.

 

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets at the end of October increased to US$474 billion from September’s US$456.3 billion.
