The Monetary Authority today announced the service schedule for its Coin Collection Programme from October 26 to January 10.

The authority’s two Coin Carts will travel to Hong Kong’s 18 districts to collect coins.

People can choose to exchange their coins for banknotes or add value to their Octopus cards or e-wallets. There is also a Community Chest donation box in each vehicle.

The collected coins will be re-circulated to meet demand.

The carts have carried out 740,000 transactions, collecting 598 million coins worth $880 million, since the programme’s launch in 2014.
