Isolation facility ready for use
In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Government has converted Lei Yue Mun Park & Holiday Village into a community isolation facility, which will accept patients starting on July 24.
At a press conference today, the Hospital Authority said the facility comprises of two sites to provide 350 beds.
Patients staying at this facility must be less than 50 years old, fever-free for 48 hours before admission and need to be mobile.
They must also be in good health without any major long-term disease and cannot have diarrhoea. Also, no children and pregnant women can stay at the facility, but some families will be accepted as special cases.
Tin Shui Wai Hospital Deputy Hospital Chief Executive Dr Larry Lee explained that accident and emergency department colleagues will support the initial phase of the community isolation facility’s operation.
"At the moment, we have six doctors who have committed to help and there are a lot more coming and same as the nursing staff, the response is overwhelming which is very encouraging to us."
Hospital Authority Chief Nursing Officer Leung Ming added that 23 nurses are ready to take up three shifts per day.
He said: "For the morning duty and the afternoon duty, we have five nurses on-site to take up different processes and responsibilities.
"For the night, we understand that there may be fewer activities, so we have two nurses to take up night duty. So the 23 nurses can maintain the shifts that I mentioned."
