DoJ abides by prosecution code
June 22, 2019
The Department of Justice will work in accordance with the law, the evidence and the Prosecution Code when deciding to press charges against anyone, Secretary for Justice Teresa Cheng said today.
Ms Cheng made the statement when asked by reporters about protesters facing prosecution in connection with the June 12 public order event.
She said the department will only decide to prosecute if the evidence accepted by the court demonstrates a reasonable prospect of conviction, adding that such a decision will be made in an independent and impartial manner.
