ID card replacement period set
Hong Kong residents born in 1968 or 1969 should apply for new smart identity cards at Smart Identity Card Replacement Centres from April 1 to June 1, the Immigration Department announced today.
Bookings can be made online, on the department’s mobile application or by calling the 24-hour hotline at 2121 1234.
Applicants can pre-fill application forms when booking appointments online or through the mobile application to enjoy a faster registration process.
Under a new caring arrangement, eligible applicants may also bring up to two family members or friends aged 65 or above to replace their smart identity cards together.
The department also reminded citizens born in 1985 or 1986 that their specified period for identity card replacement will end on March 30.
Those who have not applied for the new identity card should do so as early as possible to avoid a last-minute rush.
