Lantern carnivals to be held

Unique crafts:

An exhibition on traditional paper crafting to be held at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza will showcase palace lanterns and a merry-go-round lantern.

The Leisure & Cultural Services Department will hold three lantern carnivals from February 17 to 19 to celebrate the Lunar New Year Lantern Festival. 

 

The carnivals will be held in North District Park on February 17, in Tin Shui Wai Park and Ginza Square on February 18, and at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza on February 19.

 

Folk craft masters from Guangdong, Macau and Hong Kong will give demonstrations on Xiguan copperware making, ceramic repair, guqin making and dough figurine crafting at the carnivals.

 

The Hubei Arts Troupe, supported by the Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, will showcase spectacular ethnic songs, dance and martial arts performances.

 

Chinese juggling, kunqu and Taoist music performances will also be featured at the North District Park carnival.

 

Additionally, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office will hold an exhibition on traditional paper crafting from February 14 to 19 at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza.
