Alex Cheung’s Man on the Brink has won him the Best Director prize at the 19th Golden Horse Awards.

The Hong Kong Film Archive will hold its latest Movie Talk series on March 9 and 10 featuring local filmmaker Alex Cheung.

Movie lovers will be treated to Cheung’s works Cops & Robbers (1979), Come Together (1974) and Man on the Brink (1981).

Cheung’s first film Cops & Robbers tells the exciting story between the righteous police team and a formerly unsuccessful police applicant who becomes a psycho killer.

The critically acclaimed box office hit is considered one of the ground-breaking works of the Hong Kong New Wave.

Come Together is Cheung’s legendary experimental short film while Man on the Brink - a pioneering work among undercover cop films - won Cheung the Best Director prize at the 19th Golden Horse Awards.

Two of Cheung’s favourite English movies, Blow-Up (1966) and Man of La Mancha (1972), will also be featured.

After each screening, Cheung will speak with other filmmakers and critics about his filmmaking experience and the inspiration he got from the selected masterworks. The talks will be conducted in Cantonese.

Tickets are available at URBTIX. Call 2739 2139 for further information.
