Hospital Authority Chairman Prof John Leong (centre) announces Dr Tony Ko (left) will succeed Dr Leung Pak-yin (right) as Hospital Authority Chief Executive.

 

 

Dr Tony Ko has been appointed as Hospital Authority Chief Executive from August 1, 2019 for three years, succeeding Dr Leung Pak-yin, the Hospital Authority announced today.

 

Dr Ko's appointment was endorsed by the authority’s board and approved by the Chief Executive after several rounds of global searching and thorough deliberation by a selection board chaired by the authority’s Chairman.

 

Secretary for Food & Health Prof Sophia Chan welcomed the appointment.

 

"Dr Ko has rich experience in clinical services and public hospital management, as well as proven leadership and management skills. I am confident that Dr Ko will be able to rise to the challenges and lead the authority to scale new heights.”

 

Dr Ko is a physician by background and is currently Director of Cluster Services at the authority’s head office.

 

He previously served as Cluster Chief Executive of New Territories West and held a number of senior executive positions in the head office.

 

Dr Leung will continue his duty until the end of July 2019 upon completion of his current contract.

 

Prof Chan thanked him for his invaluable contributions over the years.
