Hard at work:

Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department staff have been clearing fallen trees in country parks.

Government departments and their contractors will continue their follow-up work over the weekend following the passage of Super Typhoon Mangkhut.

Facilities of all Leisure & Cultural Services Department beaches are still temporarily closed. People are advised not to swim, barbeque, or enjoy the moonlight at the beaches for the sake of safety.

The Food & Environmental Hygiene Department will prioritise the clearance of debris at major thoroughfares, carriageways of central business districts, school areas, access roads to refuse collection points, residential areas and non-gazetted beaches.

Taking into account the special circumstances in different districts, respective District Offices have also made appropriate arrangements.

For example, the Sai Kung District Office arranged an urgent meeting with local organisations and the Marine Department to help solve the marine refuse problem.

The Government thanked members of the public who helped clean up the city this week, and added emergency services are focusing on dealing with priority issues such as opening roads and clearing away dangerous trees.

The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department has been clearing fallen trees and repairing damaged facilities.

Some recreational sites in country parks will be reopened on September 22 so that people can enjoy the weekend and Mid-Autumn Festival.
