Oi! opens to realise creative dreams

Oi! is the new art space under the Leisure & Cultural Services Department’s Art Promotion Office, which will encourage people to unlock their creative potential and enrich Hong Kong's cultural life.

Explore imagination: Oi! opens to provide a new art space for the community.

Urban oasis: Oi! has a 300 square metre lawn offering an oasis in the dense urban surroundings.

Historical site: Oi! is a Grade 2 historical building, with a variety of roofs, and the sharp contrast between the red brick walls and the coarse stucco facade.

Exhibition platform: Oi! houses two exhibition galleries for artists to present a wide range of programmes and activities.

Liquid listening: Cedric Maridet created the Mechanics of Shadows: Water Days exhibit by collecting the sounds of the sea around Hong Kong and projecting them as a means to question the human relationship with sound.

Artists’ statement: Oil! offers exhibits introductions and tours for audiences to better understand the exhibition.

Ever-changing atmosphere: Dancer Daniel Yeung performs in the space created by Yuan Gong.

Multi-channel video: The collection of rainwater and the process of boiling it until it vaporises was recorded by Tang Kwok-hin on video and showed at the bottom of a well.

Disaster recovery: Prelude to the Seven Bowls by Tsang Kin-wah is a multi-channel video and sound installation that uses footage of the 2011 Japan tsunami to demonstrate the power of nature.

Dance performance: Artists dance at the opening ceremony of Oi!.
