An exhibition on the life of kung-fu master Bruce Lee will open on July 20 and run for five years at the Heritage Museum.
Director of Leisure & Cultural Services Betty Fung announced the details of the Bruce Lee: Kung Fu • Art • Life exhibition at a press conference today. She said the international martial arts star had a profound impact on different aspects of popular culture, and is the pride of Hong Kong.
The exhibition gathers more than 600 precious relics and memorabilia, including 400 from the Bruce Lee Foundation and 100 from the Hong Kong Film Archive.
Covering a total area of 850 square metres, the gallery is inspired by scenes in Lee’s five classic kung fu movies, his gym and his study.
The Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers has produced a 75-minute documentary called
The Brilliant Life of Bruce Lee, to be shown during the exhibition period.
Famous sculptor Chu Tat-shing has created a 3.5-metre-high statue of Lee in action, while animation artist Shannon Ma has made a 3D hologram showing Lee's quick, forceful kicking and nunchaku skills.
The Tourism Commission will promote the exhibition to overseas visitors through the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The exhibition is under the Vibrant Hong Kong theme of the "Hong Kong: Our Home" Campaign.
