Secretary for Labour & Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong started his visit programme in Cambodia today.
He met Minister of Labour & Vocational Training Ith Samheng to discuss co-operation opportunities under the Belt & Road Initiative and enabling Cambodians to work as domestic helpers in Hong Kong.
Dr Law said: "With our soon-to-peak manpower supply and ageing population, it is expected we will have strong demand for foreign domestic helpers. We welcome Cambodians to work in Hong Kong as domestic helpers."
He then met representatives of recruitment agencies authorised by the Ministry of Labour & Vocational Training to learn about their preparatory work in arranging Cambodian domestic helpers to work in Hong Kong.
He briefed them on the regulation of Hong Kong's employment agencies, including the limit they are allowed to charge jobseekers.
Dr Law then paid a courtesy call on Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo.
Tonight Dr Law will speak at a gala dinner organised by the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office in Singapore and the Hong Kong Business Association of Cambodia in celebration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region's 20th anniversary.
