Secretary for Education Eddie Ng says the situation in Admiralty is worrisome, and urges protesters not to block government offices.
Speaking to reporters today, Mr Ng said student organisations have asked people to gather at Admiralty tonight with helmets, goggles and masks. He worries that violence may erupt.
He urges students to avoid high-risk areas, and parents should take of their children’s personal safety.
He said teachers and principals will continue to perform their duties professionally.
Speaking on the proposal to setup a youth committee under the Commission on Poverty, Mr Ng said the committee will focus on issues faced by youths, such as education opportunities, vocational training and employment.
