CE urges up-to-date debate

Chief Executive CY Leung has urged people to read recent Government documents instead of obsolete ones when raising opinions on moral and national education.
 
Speaking to the media today, Mr Leung said the speaker at a gathering at the Chinese University was referring to an obsolete teaching guide, which has been revised. The guide was issued last year and was revised by the previous Government earlier this year.
 
He said the Government has not issued any teaching materials. Its teaching materials will first be vetted by the Committee on the Implementation of Moral & National Education.
 
The Government has so far only issued the curriculum guide, which has been revised.
 
He reiterated that withdrawing the subject is tantamount to preventing schools from launching the curriculum, which goes against the spirit of Hong Kong as a pluralistic society.
