September 02, 2012
Chief Executive CY Leung says the Government will not push through the moral and national education subject, and he hopes those who are staging a hunger strike outside the Central Government Offices take care of their health.
Speaking to the media today after a public function, Mr Leung said the Government will not issue the subject’s teaching materials, they will be devised by schools. He hopes those who object to the subject join the Committee on the Implementation of Moral & Education so they can express their views.
Mr Leung said discussions during the past few weeks have made people understand the Government will not push through the subject by tomorrow, adding that discussion should be held in a pragmatic manner.
Meanwhile, on the 10 measures to stablise the property market, Mr Leung said the Government will introduce appropriate measures again in accordance with the market situation and Hong Kong people’s housing needs. He said other measures will also be introduced if necessary.
Mr Leung said housing tops Hong Kong people’s concern and the problem has existed for quite some time. He said his political team and civil servants are determined to solve the problem by short-term, medium-term, and long-term measures.
