Textbook talks continue

The Education Bureau says it has not asked publishers to freeze textbook prices for another year in exchange for a three-year grace period to implement the debundling arrangement.
In response to press enquiries, it today clarified the policy of debundling textbooks, and teaching and learning materials, for pricing was originally scheduled to be implemented in the 2010-11 school year.
As publishers requested more time to resolve technical problems, the bureau agreed last year to postpone the implementation for a year.
The bureau said it is still negotiating with publishers to implement the debundling policy as soon as possible.
