Customs officers seized 2.6 million illicit cigarettes at the River Trade Terminal Cargo Examination Compound in Tuen Mun yesterday.
They were found inside a 20-foot container that arrived from Guangzhou, mix-loaded with declared tableware.
The market value of the cigarettes was $7 million with a duty potential of $5 million.
