Appropriate measures have been taken to ensure the safety of newly-elected Legislative Councillor Eddie Chu and his family after he received threats, the Government says.
In response to a public meeting held today over the reported intimidation, the Government said in a statement that it is very concerned about the case, noting Police have been conducting an extensive investigation into it.
It said Hong Kong upholds the rule of law and will not accept threats against people over their remarks or stance on community affairs.
It will spare no effort in taking action against such illegal acts, it added.
