Police Public Relations Branch Chief Superintendent Steve Hui urged people to leave the streets of Mong Kok to avoid further conflict.
During a press conference today, Mr Hui said that several incidents had broken out in Mong Kok early this morning, resulting in an officer being injured and people arrested.
He noted that some people had obstructed the Police from carrying out their duties, while others had tried to provoke officers – behaviour that should be condemned.
Mr Hui added that despite people’s calls for the demonstrators to remove roadblocks, some had tried to reinforce barriers, leading to more disputes.
He said that the district remained a high-risk area and urged people to leave as soon as possible.
