Being a law enforcement agency, Police abide by the law in any action it takes.
Commissioner of Police Andy Tsang made the statement today, saying there are people who, by reason of their political stance or value disposition, are inclined to sympathise or agree with some unlawful acts taken by protesters.
He said they accuse Police of abusing their authority or of oppressing protesters when officers take enforcement action against such unlawful acts.
He said society needs to think about this issue, warning that law and order in Hong Kong will be seriously affected if Police were to sway to such a political stance.
