45 pollution convictions recorded

The Environmental Protection Department recorded 45 pollution convictions in January.
 
Eleven were for air pollution, 19 were for noise, 13 were for waste disposal, and two were for water pollution.
 
The heaviest fine was $30,000, given to a company that did not comply with permit conditions in using powered mechanical equipment.
