4 dead, 19 injured in Hung Hom blaze

Four people have died and 19 others were injured after a fire broke out in a building at 111-113 Ma Tau Wai Road in Hung Hom this morning.
 
The blaze started in a shop unit on the ground floor at about 3am and spread to upper floors and other units on the first and second floors. The fire was upgraded to a No 3 alarm at 3.47am. The shop unit was severely damaged.
 
Firefighters found a woman, an infant and a boy dead in the blaze. Twenty injured people were sent to Queen Elizabeth and Kwong Wah Hospitals. One of them, an 18-year-old woman, later died in Queen Elizabeth. A man in critical condition and a woman in stable condition remain at Queen Elizabeth. A girl who was transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital from Queen Elizabeth is also in stable condition. A man discharged from Queen Elizabeth is now in serious condition at Prince of Wales.
 
Twelve people were rescued from the upper floors and 35 others led to a place of safety on the ground floor.
 
Firefighters largely put out the blaze around 5:30am, using three jets and 11 breathing apparatus teams.
