3 theft suspects returned to HK

December 03, 2010

The Guangdong Public Security Department has returned three local suspects in a theft case to the Hong Kong Police through the Huanggang Boundary Control Point.

The three men, aged 39 to 45, were suspected to be in connection with a theft case in which 265kg of gold worth about $90 million was stolen in Yuen Long on October 22.

The three were believed to have left for the Mainland. Through its Liaison Bureau, the Hong Kong Police sought the Guangdong Public Security Department's assistance in locating them.

With information from the Guangdong Public Security Department, the Hong Kong Police recovered most of the stolen goods from a private car in the New Territories.

The three are being detained for questioning.
