Co-location arrangements for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link will comply with the Basic Law and has legal backing.
This was the message from Chief Executive Carrie Lam while conducting her first Legislative Council question-and-answer session today.
She said according to the Mass Transit Railway Corporation the rail will be ready for commissioning in next year’s third quarter, adding the public is anxious to have the rail operating as soon as possible.
She said co-location is a complicated and sensitive issue, but it will make the rail more efficient.
The Government will announce the package of co-location arrangements when it is ready, she added.
To enhance public understanding of the new rail, she said the Government and the MTRC will promote its advantages to the public, adding there will be a briefing on the project next week.
