Secretary for Development Paul Chan and Secretary for Transport & Housing Prof Anthony Cheung will meet with Legislative Council members-elect Eddie Chu and Prof Yiu Chung-yim at the Central Government Offices on September 15.
They will exchange views on the development of Wang Chau, Yuen Long.
The Government announced the meeting tonight, noting that it entrusted the Housing Authority in 2012 to carry out a planning and engineering feasibility study on the development of Wang Chau.
Results of the study indicated it is technically feasible to use the site for the development of 17,000 public housing flats and the Yuen Long Industrial Estate extension.
Having considered the overall development priority, the Government decided first to proceed with the first phase of the development at the southern portion of the site to provide 4,000 public housing flats.
Subject to the progress of various associated works, it will take forward the second and third phases of the development according to priority.
Chief Executive CY Leung today said constructing 17,000 flats through the three phases of development is still the Government's plan.
The Government said it will extract sections of the study to illustrate the conditions and difficulties in the full implementation of the first, second and third phases of the development for public inspection.
The Development Bureau and the Housing & Transport Bureau submitted a paper to the Legislative Council Development Panel in March on the Wang Chau development.
