Secretary for Development Paul Chan says the Government is concerned about workplace safety at construction sites and has been taking measures to relieve the burden on local workers.
Mr Chan told reporters today that his bureau has been in touch with the Labour & Welfare Bureau and suggested employing imported workers for different public works projects to better utilise their productivity and relieve the pressure on local workers.
On the issue of country parks, Mr Chan said the Government will spend the remaining two years of this term concentrating on rezoning sites and pushing ahead various long-term development projects.
He added that country parks will not be developed in this term of government.
