Traffic conditions not improved

October 17, 2014

Traffic on Hong Kong Island and Kowloon is still being affected by protesters illegally occupying roads, Assistant Commissioner for Transport Albert Su said today.

Mr Su noted that Police had reopened roads in Mong Kok after removing illegal barriers blocking traffic lanes this morning, but added that some roads are still being blocked by protesters.

He said that eight bus routes are still suspended, while 186 bus routes have been diverted.

Mr Su said both his department and the Police will continue to implement several temporary traffic management measures and urged drivers to follow officers' instructions on the roads.

He also called on commuters to continue allowing more time for their journeys.
