34 residential sites to be sold
February 27, 2014
The 2014-15 Land Sale Programme will include 34 residential sites, including 24 new sites and 10 rolled over from the previous year, to provide about 15,500 flats.
Speaking at a press conference today, Secretary for Development Paul Chan said the plans show the Government’s determination to increase land supply for housing.
For the first quarter of 2014-15, the Government will tender six sites - one in Wan Chai, two in Ma On Shan, two in Tuen Mun and one in Tsuen Wan - which can provide about 1,500 flats. A minimum flat number requirement will be imposed on four of them.
Together with 1,700 flats from the Kwun Tong urban renewal project which will also be tendered in the same quarter, about 3,200 flats will be provided.
Mr Chan said the Government strives to meet the annual average target of 19,000 private residential units by maintaining land supply through sources including government land sales, railway property development projects, Urban Renewal Authority projects, and land lease modification or land exchange.
The Government will also sell seven commercial sites and one hotel site in 2014-15, providing 230,000 square metres of commercial floor area and 1,100 hotel rooms, he said, adding one 21,000 square metre commercial site in Tsim Sha Tsui will be sold in the first quarter.
