Hospital redevelopment backed

Secretary for Development Carrie Lam says the Government supports the expansion and redevelopment of private hospitals to enhance services, as well as the development of new hospitals, as long as the projects comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
 
She told legislators today the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital's expansion will enhance hospital services and increase patient capacity.
 
The Town Planning Board has considered the hospital's expansion project with reference to the views of the Food & Health Bureau and the Department of Health.
 
The Planning Department has confirmed the proposal is acceptable.
