Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah attended the Second Meeting of BRICS Ministers of Culture in Tianjin today.
The meeting will formulate an action plan for cultural co-operation between governments.
Addressing the meeting, Mr Lau said Hong Kong has in-depth cultural exchanges and co-operation with countries around the world.
Local arts groups receive subvention for promoting cultural exchanges with other economies, including BRICS countries.
He cited Hong Kong’s recent hosting of the Museum Summit which brought together 20 acclaimed museum professionals, including leading figures from BRICS members India and Russia.
Mr Lau highlighted the development of the West Kowloon Cultural District, saying it will become one of the world's largest cultural zones.
He also met Hong Kong tertiary students participating in the Home Affairs Bureau's Funding Scheme for Youth Internship in the Mainland.
