Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah visited Hong Kong Sports Institute in Sha Tin today for briefings on training and competitions, and to inspect its equipment and watch sports demonstrations.
Meeting the institute's coaches and more than 70 athletes, he said the facility not only provides advanced athletic training, supports sports science and offers medical treatment, it also caters to athletes' educational and vocational needs.
Numerous elite athletes trained by the institute over the years have brought home countless medals from international events, he said, hoping Hong Kong athletes achieve even better results at the Rio Olympics next year.
