The Government is procuring portable lead level examination equipment and will consider sending more blood samples to foreign laboratories for lead level tests.
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man said today the move is to meet rising demand for blood tests.
The appointment and blood taking arrangements for affected residents at public hospitals will remain unchanged.
The Department of Health's hotline has so far received more than 3,000 enquiries and 1,900 appointments for blood tests.
The Hospital Authority's laboratories can now handle 300 blood samples per week, Dr Ko said, adding it will send more samples abroad for testing.
The authority will also expand the blood test service to more hospitals to increase handling capacity from 300 samples per week to 500 or more, he added
