The Department of Health is monitoring a Middle East Respiratory Syndrome case in the United Arab Emirates, involving a 29-year-old man who had travelled to Oman.
The patient, a truck driver, had travelled to Oman on May 6 and transported camels to the UAE on May 9. The camels had also tested positive for MERS.
To date, 1,118 laboratory-confirmed MERS cases have been reported to the World Health Organisation globally, including at least 423 deaths.
No human cases of the disease have been recorded in Hong Kong.
Travel agents organising tours to the Middle East are advised not to arrange camel rides or activities involving the animals, which may increase the risk of infection.
