The Centre for Food Safety has asked distributor Hop Hing Oil Factory to recall its products after confirming it has imported oil from Chang Guann Co Ltd, but not the substandard CG Fragrant Lard Oil.
Briefing reporters today on the centre’s investigation into the Taiwan “gutter oil” incident, the centre's Consultant Dr Ho Yuk-yin said the Government has asked the distributer to recall and seal its products as a precautionary measure.
Dr Ho also said dumpling shop Bafang Yunji has imported problematic curry paste from Taiwan. The shop has stopped selling the products and destroyed all affected stock.
Of the 46 samples of oil and food products collected by the centre, almost all passed the tests.
Dr Ho appealed to the trade to stop selling or using oil or food products that may be affected by substandard Taiwan cooking oil.
