Salted duck eggs from Vietnam's Nam Dinh, Quang Ngai, Tay Ninh, Khanh Hoa, Ca Mau and Kon Tum provinces have been banned, following reports of H5N1 avian influenza outbreaks there, the Centre for Food Safety announced today.
Poultry products and eggs from Vietnam have been banned since 2004 and 2012 respectively to prevent the spread of bird flu. Last October, the restriction was eased to allow the import of salted duck eggs with health certifications.
An import ban on salted duck eggs from Hoa Binh and Bac Ninh provinces to prevent the disease’s spread is still in force.
