The Government has announced the appointment of three new members and the re-appointment of four incumbent members to the Women's Commission.
The three new members are Prof Shirley Hung, Angelina Kwan and Dr Lawrence Tang. The four incumbent members are Teresa Au, Leona Lam, Miranda Leung Chan and Wong Shu-ming.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Matthew Cheung welcomed the appointments and re-appointments, and said he looked forward to their advice on the commission's work. He also thanked outgoing members Dr Ronnie Hui, Dr Polly Cheung and Prof Leung Lai-ching for their contributions.
Prof Hung is an Associate Professor at Baptist University’s Department of Social Work, and is a former Chairperson of the Social Workers Registration Board and a former member of the Equal Opportunities Commission.
Ms Kwan is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of a consulting firm and a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants Disciplinary Panel.
Dr Tang is an Honorary Clinical Professor of the University of Hong Kong’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and the former Hospital Chief Executive of Kwong Wah Hospital and Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Wong Tai Sin Hospital.
The commission was established in 2001 to promote the well-being and interests of women in Hong Kong. The appointments start from January 15, for a two-year term.
