Hospital fee adjustment factors vary
March 16, 2013
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man says individual private hospitals have different factors to consider when adjusting their fees.
He told reporters today some hospitals may adjust fees partly in response to the zero quota policy, which does not allow Mainland mothers whose husbands are not Hong Kong permanent residents to give birth in private hospitals.
"The change or fluctuation in the utilisation pattern of individual private hospitals is only one of the factors that the hospitals may take into consideration in terms of whether their fees and charges policy need to be adjusted," he said.
He also said the formula export restriction targets parallel traders, not Mainlanders. The Government will continue to improve the supply chain at supplier and retailer levels, for smaller retailers to restock quickly when there are shortages.
He hopes retailers and wholesalers can collaborate with suppliers, who need to deliver formula to retailers within several days, while retailers should commit to selling the formula to people who have reserved it.
