Health chief continues Beijing visit
August 27, 2012
Secretary for Food & Health Dr Ko Wing-man continued his Beijing visit today, calling on Mainland health officials, and saying he hopes to strengthen ties between the two cities.
On the second day of his visit, Dr Ko called on the Minister of Health Dr Chen Zhu and said the partnership between Hong Kong's medical sector and the Mainland has been further strengthened. The signing of Supplement IX to the Mainland & Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement not only enables Hong Kong medical service providers to access the Mainland market, but also provides more medical choices for patients.
He then met with the Commissioner of the State Food & Drug Administration Yin Li to exchange views and experiences on medicine registration and safety, as well as clinical trials.
Dr Ko said he hopes Mainland and Hong Kong health authorities continue to strengthen ties and exchanges.
He also met with Hong Kong & Macao Affairs Office Deputy Director Zhou Bo.
He will later attend a dinner hosted by the Commissioner of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Professor Wang Guoqiang.
Dr Ko will visit the State General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection & Quarantine tomorrow.
