Top performance:  Chief Executive CY Leung meets China's London Olympics gold medallists.

CE welcomes China Olympians

Chief Executive CY Leung today welcomed China's London Olympics delegation to Hong Kong, saying the public can learn from their determination and share the joy of their golden glory.
 
Hosting a welcoming reception today, Mr Leung commended the athletes for their good results in London - 38 gold, 27 silver, and 23 bronze medals.


Mr Leung said he watched their performances on television and was inspired by their dedication. He said the athletes have undergone extensive training to achieve their good results, adding their spirit and persistence warrants respect.
 
Mr Leung said he believes the delegation will feel the passion of Hong Kong people during their three-day visit, which he hopes will be memorable for them.
 
Tomorrow, the public can watch the delegation show their skills in sports demonstrations, and see their charms in a variety show.
 
Led by Chinese Olympic Committee President Liu Peng, the delegation met the press before their reception ceremony.
 
Men’s singles badminton gold medallist Lin Dan said he hopes to play a friendly match with Hong Kong athletes. He said every year he comes to Hong Kong to join open tournaments, and many locals show their support.
 
Men’s 400m and 1,500m freestyle swimming gold medallist Sun Yang said this is his second Hong Kong visit, having come previously for a competition.
 
Women's 3m springboard and synchronised 3m springboard gold medallist Wu Minxia said she hopes to enrich herself in different aspects after her retirement.
