June 17, 2011
The Centre for Food Safety today urged people not to consume four kinds of food products manufactured in Taiwan which might have been contaminated with a plasticiser.

The centre today received notification from the Taiwanese authority that consignments of four kinds of food products which were produced by Biozyme Biotehnology Corp suspected to be contaminated with the plasticiser DEHP had been distributed to Hong Kong.

The centre contacted the importers, O' Farm and Velement International, who had already stopped the sale of the products.

Meanwhile, the centre was notified by the Macau authority that a sample of Extra Yoghurt manufactured by Possmei in Taiwan was found to contain DEHP.

The centre immediately approached the importer, C&Y Canfood Trading, and asked it to initiate a recall of the product.

A sample of a different batch of the same kind of yoghurt has been collected for testing.

The centre will continue to liaise with the Taiwanese authority on the plasticiser contamination incident.
