Boy's death unrelated to scarlet fever
June 08, 2011
The 15-year-old Stanley schoolboy who died yesterday had no scarlet fever symptoms.
The Centre for Health Protection said today the doctor who did the clinical examination of the boy said there was no rash. It said there has been no infectious disease outbreak at his school or boarding house, and there is no evidence linking the case to the seven-year-old Stanley schoolgirl who died on May 29.
The boy came down with a fever, diarrhoea and malaise from June 3. He was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on June 6 with septic shock and he died on June 7.
He had no recent travel history and his home contact is asymptomatic.
Investigations are continuing.
