The Centre for Food Safety said today it will prohibit the import and supply Sheng Shiang Jen Konjac Coconut Jelly (Taro Flavour) manufactured by Triko Foods in Taiwan, from tomorrow.
The centre also ordered the recall of the fruit jelly already on the market within 30 days, unless there is a certificate issued by Taiwanese authorities stating the levels of plastic additive DEHP does not exceed 1.5ppm.
No DEHP was found in the other four samples taken of the same brand, including the mango, assorted and peach flavours of konjac coconut jelly, as well as the lychee coconut jelly.
The centre will strengthen its surveillance and testing of sports drinks, flavored juice, tea beverages, fruit jam/syrup and fruit jelly, as well as powder and tablet supplements.
