4 meat samples fail safety check
May 19, 2011
Four meat samples have been found with a trace amount of sulphur dioxide, the Centre for Food Safety says.
The centre recently collected 167 meat samples for tests, and three of beef and one of pork were found to contain the chemical.
It is an offence to sell fresh, chilled or frozen meat containing sulphur dioxide. The centre has collected follow-up samples and issued warning letters to the shop operators.
